Nature: A powerful and athletic dog, bulldogs have strong muscles and bones and a sturdy compact frame. They are strong, confident, agile, alert, fearless and inquisitive and have great endurance. They can be trained to behave properly around children and love them. However, they can be aggressive around strangers and other pets. Proper socialization can be taught to an American Bulldog, if the training starts early. It has a good memory and retains the commands taught to him for a very long time.

Grooming: Little grooming is needed to keep this dog breed in good shape. Brushing the hair of the dog with a coarse comb while it is shedding is good enough.

Exercise: High energy levels of this dog breed makes it necessary to give them a lot of exercise daily such as long walks, jogging, playing games such as catch and rigorous agility or skills trials.
