Australian Terrier

Australian Terrier

Breed Type: Terrier

Weight: 12 to 14 lbs

Height: 10 to 11 inches

Coat type: Medium length, straight and hard hair.

Color: Australian Terriers are mostly available in solid red and sandy colors or blue and tan color.

Nature: One of the smallest terrier dog breeds, Australian Terriers are not so naïve after all. These rugged canines were developed in harsh Australian Outback and have been known to control rats and snakes, alert on intrusion and tend sheep. Always ready and on alert, these dogs are very intelligent, playful, have easy self-confidence and can be good friends. They do not like strangers but get along with children until they do not tease the dog. Australian Terrier learns quickly but needs strict training as it is independent types.

Grooming: These dogs need to be brushed and combed at least once a week and their coat must be plucked once in every three months.

Exercise: Though quite adaptable, an active lifestyle is preferable to this dog breed.
