Breed Type: Herding

Weight: 45 to 55 lbs

Height: 21 to 22 inches for Males, 20 to 21 inches for Females

Coat type: Straight, long and rough outer coat and dense and wooly undercoat.

Color: Mostly Bearded Collies are available in shades of gray or chocolate with occasional white or tan points that appear on tail tip, feet and chest.

Nature: Active herders, Beardies make excellent pets for suburban and country areas. In the city, they are happier if they get plenty of exercise. High-spirited, cheerful, clever, independent, sociable and active, this dog breed gets along well with children and other household pets and gets friendly with strangers too. They learn quickly and positive reinforcement and kindness goes a long way in training them.

Grooming: Bearded Collie needs quite brushing and combing at least twice a week and its hair are traditionally parted along the back.

Exercise: Though long country walks are preferable to this canine breed, it doesn't actually require lots of exercise.
