Breed Type: Herding

Weight: 50 to 65 lbs for Males, 40 to 55 lbs for Females

Height: 20 to 23 inches for Males, 18 to 21 inches for Females

Coat type: Medium to long hair and dense undercoat.

Color: These dogs may have white markings or tan points in mostly red, black, blue merle and red merle colors.

Nature: Intelligent, very loyal and alert, Australian Shepherd craves to work and be useful. Herding livestock is his only mission in life and it is eager to learn too. It forms close family bonds and shared a good rapport with children and other pets. Though shy around strangers, it is easy to train as it learns quickly and easily.

Grooming: Australian Shepherds have little grooming needs such as good combing while it is shedding.

Exercise: This dog breed needs to be occupied always and get lots of exercise. They are quite active and suitable to those who need it as a companion for thrilling, adventurous and arduous outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and trailing.
